TFD On the Red Carpet with "How do I look?" Host Jeannie Mai

My pick for Best Dressed on the "An Evening with Angels 2" Red Carpet on Sunday night, has to be the Style Network's charismatic star, Jeannie Mai. She looked stunning in her sequin Shane Peacock dress and Report Signature heels and I loved the mini spikes on the shoulders and the belt she added to make it her own. I have a feeling though that she shines no matter what she wears!

Inside the event, Jeannie played host, helping to auction off items for the Hope Foundation and introduce performer Katherine Mcphee. I was able to speak to her earlier on the Red Carpet and get some great tips on creating your own unique style shopping in the most efficient way.

TFD: Who are you wearing?
Jeannie: The dress is by Shane Peacock and as any dress, I always try to make it my own so I added a sash around the waist and rock it out, and this is from Kira Plasteinina

TFD: Who are the shoes by?
Jeannie: The shoes are...we will find out together, let's check- they're by Report Signature and you know what I love about these shoes? at one point they are black and if you flip over the sequins, they are silver so I just sat down once and flipped them all over and wore them as silver pumps. It's so rad!

TFD: Very cool- it's like Reversible Heels! So do you do any budget shopping or mix up any high end pieces with inexpensive items?
Jeannie: So these are the tips I have for every woman out there. The first tip I have is when you go shopping, know what you want specifically when you go shopping and write it down. Do you want a top or a bottom, write down EXACTLY what it is. That's the first tip. The second tip is to re-button your button's, like if you have a button down shirt or a jacket,  take off the old buttons and put on new, completely different ones to instantly transform a typical jacket to look more unique and expensive and its an extremely cheap way to create cool pieces in your closet because all you have to do it buy new buttons which costs less than $10.

TFD: Those are some great tips for my readers! Thank you so much. You were also nominated for an Emmy- How amazing of an experience was that?
Jeannie: Yes, we did get nominated for an Emmy for the show "How do I look" and it was incredible. What's great about the show though is we actually makeover a person's confidence not the fashion. The fashion we worry about in the end. It's something called the psychology of Style, and we break down the way a person dresses to them and why and it makes them for a second cringe in embarrassment but it then has the effect of  them asking 'why do I do this?' which helps them be able to identify it and transform their confidence.

Thank you Jeannie for speaking with The Fashion Dealer and readers, hope you enjoyed the tips from the Fashion Guru herself!
